Keep Censoring—Or We Will Come After You! Says Democratic Members of Congress to Facebook

The changes on Twitter are creating panic throughout the Democratic Party.

The Elon Musk takeover and subsequent dismantling of biased censorship that once dominated Twitter is making “the powers that be” nervous about their loss of power and influence over the national narrative.

In a chilling letter from Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), André Carson (D-Ind.), Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Facebook was given a not-so-subtle threat that reducing its infamous censorship system will invite congressional action. The letter to Meta’s president of global affairs, Nick Clegg, is written on congressional stationery “as part of our ongoing oversight efforts.”

With House Republicans pledging to investigate social media censorship when they take control in January, these four Democratic members are trying to force Facebook to “recommit” to censoring opposing views and to make election censorship policies permanent. Otherwise, they suggest, they may be forced to exercise oversight into any move by Facebook to “alter or rollback certain misinformation policies.”

In addition to demanding that Facebook preserve its bans on figures like former president Donald Trump, they want Facebook to expand its censorship overall because “unlike other major social media platforms, Meta’s policies do not prohibit posts that make unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud.” KEEP READING

NY Times Runs Anti-Semitic Crossword Puzzle as Hannukah Begins

Was this simply a missed visual faux pas by someone involved in the creation and publishing of the crossword puzzle? O was this intentional by an insider? We may never know.

But there is no denying the uncanny resemblance that yesterday’s crossword puzzle’s appearance shared with the shape of a swastika. Coincidence Theorists™ will dismiss the timing — right as Hannukah begins!

Disgusting! Only the New York Times would get Chanukah going with this is the crossword puzzle. Imagine what they would do to someone who did this and was not ideologically aligned with them? I’ll give them the same benefit of the doubt they would give those people… EXACTLY ZERO

The design was made up by long-time puzzle designer Ryan McCarty, a data analytics consulting manager from Washington, DC. While his name is likely familiar to Saturday puzzle-doers, this is his first crack at a Sunday puzzle. He spoke proudly of his creation in the constructor notes section of the newspaper, saying, "I had originally tried to make it work in a 15x15 grid but then decided to expand the grid out to a Sunday-size puzzle with a fun whirlpool shape." However, a "fun whirlpool shape" was apparently not the first thing some people saw. (SOURCE)
