Did Louisiana Senator John Kennedy give us a warning or crack a joke?
The Republican lawmaker — known for his acerbic wit and scathing verbal roastings— came out of yesterday’s Senate briefing on recent UFO sightings with somber facial expressions as he spoke. Then, he ended his press conference with a cryptic message that has people speculating on its meaning.
We can often rely on tone of voice and body language to tip us off when a person is joking or not.
But this time—it’s difficult to decipher the level of seriousness behind Kennedy’s comment.
“Lock your doors tonight.” — US Senator John Kennedy
Surely, he’s not talking about aliens, right? Only a culture saturated in science fiction would believe that...right?
Okay—if not aliens, what is he referring to?
Well, in the context of his “lock your doors” comment—Kennedy was talking about balloons from China floating over America.
Kennedy: “This has been going on for a long long long time.”
Reporter: “How long?”
Kennedy: “Um…at least 2017. Last week we were told 2019. Um…(purses lips in dramatic pause)…that’s what I took away from it today.”
Reporters wrapping up interview: “Thank you, Senator. Appreciate it.”
Kennedy: “Lock your doors tonight.”
Whatever Senator Kennedy is talking about—he doesn’t leave us with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
