New CNN Owner Sharpens His Ax
He's calling this longtime CNN Anchor a "cancer" and ripping the show's dismal ratings. This longtime CNN personality appears to be on his way out - and conservatives won't shed any tears.
Back on February 19, we looked at a gentleman named John Malone, a billionaire who recently gained enough shares in CNN to take majority control of the troubled network.
What’s newsworthy about this move is Malone’s history as a Donald Trump Donor and producer of conservative-friendly programs.
An investigation by DEADLINE turned up evidence that Malone was the main catalyst behind the firing of former CNN President Jeff Zucker.
In a recent meeting of company execs - Malone tore into Brian Stelter, the goofy DNC talking point spreader who appears to be on borrowed time at CNN.
Stelter’s ratings have been lower than a snake’s ankle since Biden moved into the White House.
Malone has openly shared his vision of shifting CNN to a news content business model that gets away from the partisan left commentary that currently dominates the network.
“I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing.” - John Malone
If Stelter is looking for new employment, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear that Don Lemon is carpooling with him to job interviews. Lemon was a known friend and supporter of Zucker, and Lemon defended his fired boss on-air soon after Zucker cleaned out his desk.
According to the Independent Journal Review:
“CNN’s attempt to create new revenue sources with a subscription CNN+ service hasn’t translated to success thus far. CNN+’s mobile app has received less downloads than Fox News’ designated weather app in its first month of availability. The liberal channel’s business failures in the post-Trump news era could soon translate into widescale layoffs at the company, with Nicosia previously reporting that Malone was planning on terminating the employment of the network’s most partisan personalities.”
Meanwhile, a big shakeup is happening inside the C-Suit at WarnerMedia (current owner of CNN - but is about to be taken over by the Discovery network in a merger):
Discovery’s takeover of CNN could be finalized any day now once the merger with WarnerMedia is completed.
