Pentagon Busted Doing What It Accused Russia of Doing in 2016
Plus: we follow up on what's happening with Russell Brand - did YouTube remove one of his videos right after he announced his move to Rumble? Spoiler Alert: Yes. See which video was removed.
~ Pentagon Busted Doing What It Accused Russia of Doing in 2016
The Hill’s Rising co-hosts Robby Soave and Briahna Joy Gray couldn’t stop giggling as they discussed a NY Times investigative piece detailing the Pentagon’s fake social media accounts used to influence the politics of foreign nations.
Wait, didn’t Russia do that in 2016?
The Pentagon ordered review of its overseas social media campaigns, which comes after Twitter and Facebook suspended accounts that they determined were sending messages to advance U.S. foreign policy, the New York Times reports.
Soave and Gray can’t stop laughing because they instantly see the absurd hypocrisy involved.
Gray: The reality is the U.S. government often frames what other governments do as evidence that they are not democracies - that they are inferior to the United States of America. And you can critique their behavior. But what so many people on the Left are always trying to point out is that America is often doing the same thing. So, if you think it’s bad, that’s great! You also have to be critical of what his happening in our own country- on the same plane.
Soave: I don’t want to come off as sounding like a shill for social media companies, but they’re in this weird position where they make everyone so mad that - here they are combing through the accounts identifying which ones are government actors trying to fool everyone. I’m like, okay guys, what do you want us to do? What are we supposed to do? You get mad when there is coordinated misinformation on our platforms - when there is inauthentic behavior - we get yelled at. We get screamed at - then you’re doing it! How are we supposed to handle this? That’s a huge frustration.
The Rising cohosts talk about Glenn Greenwald pointing out the hypocrisy on Twitter.
The laughing by these two got under my skin. Government propaganda is a serious topic, and these two don’t give this story enough importance in their presentation. It is like these two are talking about their friends getting busted doing something naughty. This is no laughing matter, in my opinion.

~ Russel Brand Announces His Move to Rumble and YouTube is Already Punishing Him
Last Friday we looked at Russel Brand announcing he will be doing live-streams on Rumble. Brand - a seemingly untouchable content creator on YouTube with close to 6 million followers - immediately received a strike from YouTube, removing one of Brand’s videos, deeming the content “misinformation.
That didn’t take long.
Here is Brand’s response rant, where he asks why the mainstream media outlets get a pass on what they say and are not held to the same standards.
Brand: “In this video, we have fantastic stories for you today about YouTube, censorship, and the future of this platform. Now let’s get into the story.”
“Earlier this month, we did a video about the changing narratives around covid, the pandemic, and covid treatments - in which we cited information on official government websites which we “misinterpreted.” So, I have to be careful about talking about it now, because I don’t want to make the same mistake. We had one of our videos pulled down and an official warning issued.”
“The good news is we’re moving to Rumble.”
“We know that Rumble has a reputation in some quarters for having certain particular biases - biases that we are beyond. I’m interested in total transparent communication. Empowerment of the audience. Symbiotic two-way conversation and attacking elite establishments - whether its corporate or state - so the ordinary people can communicate freely beyond the limits of the mainstream media.
“If you love Donald Trump - I love you. If you love Joe Biden - I love, you.”
He goes on to explain that the video YouTube removed was about the W.H.O. opening up trials to study Ivermectin as a “possible” treatment for covid, which everyone, include yours truly, saw this as the WHO endorsing the use of Ivermectin.
I do still see that as an attempt by the WHO to quietly change their stance on Ivermectin without coming out straightforwardly.
But YouTube will ding you whenever they can. Which is why I recommend other platforms.
