Shut Up, Rookie
"You did not see anyone in Congress do cocaine or invite you to an orgy. Never talk about that again."
~ Mr. Smith Goes to Hushington
“Hush now!”
That sums up what GOP leaders are telling bright-eyed, idealist Rep. Madison Cawthorn - the Congressional whistleblower who revealed in a recent interview that he’s seen “leaders” in D.C. doing cocaine and inviting him to orgies at some surprising homes. (Cawthorn did not name any names.)
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy reprimanded and scolded his fellow Representative, saying Cawthorn “lost my trust.”
Maybe if Cawthorn would have tied only the Democrats to his statements, Republicans would let it slide? But Cawthorn doesn’t mention either Party when talking about his experiences. You get a sense when listening to him that what he’s experiencing is “bipartisan” - meaning both Parties are being spotted behaving badly.
Cawthorn has been told to shut up, “respect the institution and focus on the work you should do.”
We will see if Cawthorn “hushes up” and gets in line with the Establishment or continues to be an independent voice calling out corruption.

~ What Bill Maher Said About the Oscar Slap
“It was not a good look for Will.”
“I could make a case that we’ve all be under a lot of pressure and a lot of emotion — and I understand a lot of emotion running through him, but that was just out of line, and it re-enforced the idea that jokes are the enemy.”
“It was sort of like cancel culture encapsulated, because at first you saw he was laughing at the joke, right? This is what happens a lot with cancel stuff. At first: ‘Oh, it’s funny.’ And then you look around: ‘Oh wait, I’m supposed to be offended.’ And then there’s the [subsequent] overreaction. He was like the Twitter mob come alive.”
“Chris Rock is the hero here.”
~ Did Will Smith Start a Slapdemic?
Unfortunately, violence can be contagious.
This was on full display two days after the Oscars at a high school track meet in Florida.

When “role models” slap people at awards shows, it sends a message to the youth.
McCarthy shows his true stripes. Damn the constituents, full-speed ahead to protect the corrupt institution.
