On Sunday evening, the world watch (mostly from their homes) the grandest, most giant sports spectacle on earth.
The game was played in the newest, most spectacular stadium - SoFi, in Los Angeles.
Over 70,000 people sat shoulder to shoulder in the NFL’s marquee venue, located in America’s most authoritarian state: California.
Many of those seen attending included Hollywood starlets, musical icons, well-known politicians, and business leaders.
The game felt like a climax to the unraveling of the pandemic - where the data keeps showing a steady decline in COVID deaths and hospitalizations.
And we haven’t even reached the springtime yet when the virus usually drops in case numbers.
The momentum for draconian COVID measures to END is strong throughout most of the U.S. right now.
At the Super Bowl, you either had to be double vaxxed or have a recent negative PCR test to get in.
According to TownHall - LeBron James, Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Ellen Degeneres, Ben Affleck, and Jay-Z were all spotted bare-faced.
Even Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti was spotted (once again) breaking his own mask rules. (Garcetti hilariously claimed that he was holding his breath while posing next to others for photos.)
~ a local news station in San Diego reported Super Bowl attendees received a free mask - but many chose not to wear them. “Everyone was given a KN95 mask, as Los Angeles County still requires masking at so-called “mega-events.”
~ Meanwhile, across the fruited plains, in Washington D.C., the nation’s capital is ending its vaccine mandate this week and its MASK mandate on March 1st, according to Human Events.
~ It’s hard to stomach watching California politicians break their own rules while continuing to force children - who are least likely to be hospitalized for COVID - to wear masks at school. “The decision to keep the mask requirement in place for schools for the upcoming weeks was praised by the California Teachers Association on Monday, which issued a statement saying strategies like masking and testing “have been key to ensuring the stability of in-person teaching and learning.” JUST THE NEWS
~ “The Super Bowl was our unofficial return to normality for the United States. A relatively normal game, with a halftime show geared toward people in their 40s. But the “normal” part was the crowd. It was the general atmosphere. The Chinese Olympics that nobody is watching feature athletes getting served by people in hazmat suits. Meanwhile, SoFi stadium gathered over 70,000 fans for the big game, and the cameras panning the vast crowd showed the spectators to be almost entirely maskless,” writes Michael Brendan Dougherty at National Review Oline.
~ House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on February 14th, 2022 (today) that “Forcing children to wear cloth masks in school is more harmful than helpful.” He’s leading the fight to free American kids from forced masking.
Could common sense have miraculously descended upon the throng of 70,000 Super Bowl enthusiasts? Shunning masks in favor of flaunting their naked faces for all the world to see. Daring the "science' to prove them wrong. Will they awaken or simply retreat back into compliance on Monday morn. I hope not.
