Watching Chicago Destroy Itself
Because of the crazy events last weekend--the Windy City's tourism industry is going to die as Rioting 2.0 returns this Saturday. Two tourists are grateful to be alive after being attacked [VIDEO]
If visiting Chicago is already checked off your bucket list—consider it a blessing.
(Like me—I visited Chicago as a teen, and Chi Town was a fantastic place back then.)
Today, the windy city appears to be melting down. The implosion started several years ago slowly, and then suddenly. Meanwhile, the people who live and work in Chicago are reaping what their political leaders sowed.
Mayhem.
Chicago’s Last Tourist
There are plenty of online videos showing the madness that took place in Chicago last weekend. One that stands out involves an innocent young couple—tourists who were out looking for a place to eat, outside in front of their downtown Airbnb, when a mob of teens surrounded them. The attack was caught on a cell phone camera and went viral.
When you first watch the scary footage, the female victim (Ashley Knutson) and her boyfriend were both attacked, but DJ (the boyfriend) went down to the ground so fast, he’s barely seen on the video.
"I said, 'DJ, I just got pushed,'" she recalled. "He turned around and said, 'Don't you put your hands on her, don't you push her.' As soon as he said that everything went crazy. They went crazy. Started jumping us, saying they were going to kill us."
Devante Garrison-Johnson isn't even visible in the video as he's already on the ground.
"They were kicking and punching me and I just had to get to defense. Can't do much when there's like 20 people on you," he said.
Lenora Dennis had just come out of Macy's on Wabash just seconds before the attack began. She said she tried to stop several police officers, but when they didn't stop, she intervened herself. (source)
"Once I saw that there will be no external intervention, yeah, absolutely, I said I can't let him just get killed in front of my face. That's not the thing to do. So yeah, bad. I felt like it was that bad," Dennis said. "I'm just telling them, get out of that area. And as I was telling them that, the group came back around the corner and started fighting again. And so that's when I was like, this going to be an all-night ordeal if I don't get them out of there."
Dennis said she was finally able to get the young couple into her car and drove them herself to a police station to give a report. They had been stripped of their cell phones, credit cards and even the shoes off their feet. She even gave the couple some money to get by.
"All I can say is I was put there," Dennis said.
Two teenagers were shot in the chaos, and 15 were arrested. Dennis said she's lived in Chicago all her life and never witnessed anything like that. She said it was not a small crowd. As she put it, anyone who cares about Chicago needs to stop this and prevent it from happening again. (source)
Ms. Dennis and the victims say they saw several police cars pass by, but they didn’t stop to help. Dennis even stood in front of one patrol car and motioned to the officer that there was an altercation happening—he drove around her and left.
You Won’t Believe What a Cop Said to Ms. Davis
During an interview with FOX32 Chicago, Dennis—who rescued the couple and drove them to a nearby police station—shared something quite shocking coming from a police officer working the front desk at the station.
“I got told by the Desk Seargent that this was going to keep happening because Brandon Johnson got elected…that floored me.” — Lenora Dennis
Newly elected Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is a known far left Marxist. Here he is with longtime left-wing extremist (and former convicted terrorist) Bill Ayers:
Critics Want to Know “Who’s In Charge.”
What’s ironic (and poetic) about the Chicago mayhem is that now the DNC is worried about hosting their 2024 convention in Chicago.
That’s over a year away—will Chicago still be standing? City officials are saying that because the city’s police force lacks enough manpower to arrest organizers of the violence—they are seeing social media posts indicating “part two” or Chicago Mayhem 2.0 will be this Saturday.
Mayor Brandon Johnson says we have to support our youth because sometimes they do dumb things. That's true. But they also need to be held accountable for their actions so they learn from their mistakes. Just kidding. That's how things are supposed to be in a civil society. We're on the brink of not having one of those in the near future.
