CNN Chopping Block
Reporter Busted Writing Fake News - What's Wrong with Tom Hanks? - Newsom Flies into Trump Territory - Viral Tweet from Italy
~ Gimme Stelter
News Detectives told you back in February that CNN would be turned upside down in the coming months.
Billionaire John Malone - a Trump donor and conservative media mogul who became the majority owner of the troubled network - told us he plans to see CNN '“evolve back to the kind of journalism it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing.”
In early April, we told you Malone was sharpening his ax and foreshadowing a bullseye on CNN anchor Brian Stelter.
Today, the Conservative Brief reported that Stelter’s time with CNN was coming to a close. “News Cycle Media President Jon Nicosia took to Twitter and reported that sources told him that Stelter has “weeks” left at the network and that other CNN employees are complaining about changes made by new management.
Nicosia tweeted: “SOURCE: “Stelter is ‘down to weeks if not days’ left at CNN. They go on ‘He is everything that reminds the new owners of the Zucker era they desperately want to get past. They continue: ‘Management is confident Stelter is the one sharing the internal pushback to fellow media reporters while simultaneously stirring discontent within the ranks.’”
Malone has already pushed out former CNN President Jeff Zucker and let go CNN anchor Chris Cuomo.
A quiet housecleaning is happening at the once respected cable news network. Stelter is on borrowed time, and he’s likely not going to be the last one getting a pink slip.
CNN needed a redo badly. Their ratings have been abysmal for years. Their reputation is shot. And the network is now considered a parody of modern-day faux news reporting.
We will keep our magnifying glass on this developing story.
~ She Has the Fake News Blues
USA Today took down 23 articles written by someone on their staff. Why? Thanks to a reader’s request for a correction - the longtime newspaper saw something they didn’t like and conducted an audit on breaking news reporter Gabriela Miranda. Many of her quoted sources turned out to be fabricated. The New York Post tried to reach Miranda through LinkedIn but discovered she had deleted her account.
~ Gavin Goes Right into the Danger Zone
This is the perfect time for a Top Gun metaphor, right? Gavin Newsom is no fighter pilot. He’s just a progressive governor and the last person you would expect to see on Donald Trump’s new social media platform. But there he is! Newsom joined Truth Social?! Yep. Gavin’s gonna take it right into the DT zone! (He should have donned sunglasses and wore a bomber jacket.)
~ Is Tom Hanks Okay?
According to entertainment blog the Animated Times, fans are worried about Tom Hanks after witnessing his apparent struggle keeping his right arm from trembling as he held a microphone while promoting his new film ‘Elvis.’
Didn’t his character in Saving Private Ryan have a trembling arm or hand? Weird.
