While any increase in free speech is to be celebrated, consider that Elon Musk may not be our friend. He censors differently but still censors. He is a big proponent of AI and implantables. He has received a heck of a lot of money from our government and defense department for SpaceX. He most certainly could buy and then shut down alternative media. He makes the perfect candidate for controlled opposition.

I know many feel the way you do. For some reason, I still hold some hope that Elon means well. I'm not sure he has nefarious intentions for Neurolink--but someone else could easily use it or duplicate it for evil purposes. I do understand where you are coming from. I'll quickly point it out if I come across evidence to what you're saying.

Not a good idea to consolidate media, especially under any billionaire or corporation. We want as much decentralization as possible.

I concur - the more decentralization the better off we all are. However, in today’s world we don’t always get that. If someone else has the money to buy Substack to keep it a bastion of Liberty, that’s fantastic. But we don’t know if anyone is ready to defend her from the deep pockets of the parasite class.

Honestly, I wish we had more "knights in shining armor" with deep pockets to turn to these days. But I'm still cautiously optimistic in Musk at this point. Best case scenario - the current owners of Substack are stubborn idealists who cannot be tempted to sell no matter how big an offer Soros gives them. ;)
