Smear Campaign on Cawthorn Continues
Is this "extraordinary" video footage of Madison alone in a car with a male staffer just a joke or something more serious?
You got to wonder if North Carolina Congressman Madison Cawthorn regrets opening his mouth about what he sees behind closed doors in Congress.
Cawthorn’s character has been relentlessly under attack because of his claims of orgy invitations and witnessing people in high places openly using cocaine.
Today, the Daily Mail released an “EXCLUSIVE” video of Cawthorn on video with a male staffer - who suggestively touches Cawthorn after Cawthorn says in an exaggerated accent, “I feel the passion and desire to see a naked body beneath my hands.”
Cawthorn scheduler Stephen Smith, 23, is filming the video.
And this video is only the beginning of this latest attack. Once again, these allegations are coming from the political group Fire Madison Cawthorn, a partisan Democrat special interest group behind all of the recent allegations against Cawthorn.
The video is a part of a recent ethics complaint filed and drafted by FMC.
The video appears to be two 20-somethings horsing around and acting silly. However, the North Carolina reporter for the Daily Mail writes:
“According to the filing, Cawthorn has provided free housing, travel, and loans to Smith, none of which have been declared or repaid. The complaint also requests an investigation into the nature of Cawthorn’s relationship with Smith stating that the junior member of staff lives with Cawthorn.”
The complaint includes some photos of Smith and Cawthorn. The images in the Daily Mail article appear to lean towards a platonic friendship. One could try to make the photos appear to show something else. Still, the photos alone don’t provide clear evidence of what FMC is trying to portray - except for this one particular photo in the ethics filing of Cawthorn and Smith poolside.
Again, you have to ask yourself - is the photo a joke? Not a joke?
Although Cawthorn appears to be mature for age 26 - an alleged screenshot of his Venmo payment history indicates he still has some growing up to do. This Venmo payment history is attached to the ethics filing and dated from June 2018 - before he was in Congress. Cawthorn would have been 22 years old at this time:
These two guys are undoubtedly clever enough to know that anyone could view these Venmo transactions, right? Is this simply a couple of immature college-aged kids goofing off?
Every traffic violation, TSA incident over handguns, and drunken photo is now evidence to smear Cawthorn’s reputation.
Cawthorn has “lost the trust” of GOP leaders like Kevin McCarthy.
Will this organized and well-funded character assassination cause the people of North Carolina to lose their trust in Cawthorn, too?
They're doing everything they can to ensure Madison Cawthorne is not re-elected. The local newspapers here in Asheville NC are even getting in on the Cawthorne-bashing. Interestingly, it's an organization formed by Mo Davis - the man Madison beat before - that's behind the bad press. Talk about holding a grudge!
